Our Teachers

Diane Roubal

When my oldest son was born I took my first quilt class as a way to have some adult time and I fell in love with quilting and fabric. Since then, I have taught many quilting classes, and I also make sample garments for a local garment pattern company.

I teach many of the Mastering Your Bernina classes at Bernina Northwest. I also coordinate the Quilt Club. I purchased my first Bernina, a 930, over 25 years ago. Since then I've progressed through the 1130, 1530 and now have a 630. I decided the best way to learn how to use my machine was to teach other owners how to use theirs.

Pam Kartak

Pam has explored the many different areas of sewing ever since she was a young girl, pushing the limits of her old machine. Pam got her first Bernina in 1986 -- an 1130 and a 234 serger -- and she's never looked back. Today, Pam has the best of both worlds, combining her vocation and love of sewing. Pam enjoys teaching and sharing her knowledge of Bernina software, embroidery, and sewing.

Gloria Young

Ever since I began to sew at the age of 10, I have made patterns, first for my dolls and then to adjust commercial patterns to fit myself. I have been a professional pattern-maker since 1972, when I made patterns for a leather clothing company. I have worked for the Seattle Bernina Sewing Machine Dealer since 1983. During that time I began teaching Bernina Sewing Machine and Serger Mastery classes. I enjoy leading sewing workshops (several for adults and one for children) that allow students to work on any project they want.

Dawn Brislawn

I teach the BSR Club. I started sewing when I was 12, and my folks purchased a used Bernina when I was 13. I haven't looked at another brand since. These days I mostly quilt, with some craft sewing and embroidery, and the occasional garment.

Our Sales Staff

Deb Brooks

I've been sewing since I was 10 and quilting for the past 14 years. I began working in the quilting/sewing world shortly after my son was born. It was a good time for me to switch gears and leave my life in the mortgage business, so I could play with my son and fabric fulltime.

Glorianne Cubbage

I learned to quilt in Mrs. Perry's high school Home Economics class but I didn't became a quilt addict until I found out I was pregnant with my first child. The quest to make the perfect baby quilt has led me on the journey of a lifetime.

Information about my newest book, Twice Quilted, can be found here.

Melinda Morrow

My mom taught me to sew when I was in fifth grade, and even my mean Home Economics teacher didn't deter me. Since then, I've sewn garments, theatrical costumes, and quilts. After several years teaching software and then college English, I'm delighted to be having much more fun teaching at Bernina Northwest. You'll find me working the sales floor and teaching Mastering classes and MyLabel.
