Skill Builder Classes and Clubs: Winter 2009

Bernina Northwest education and support is unequaled!   To view a list of classes in a calendar view, click on the desired month:

Class size is limited to 4 people, so pre-registration is required. You may register for classes at the shop or by phone. We will not cancel a class as long as two people are registered for it.

Sorry, but we cannot accommodate children or guests during class.

If you don't want to bring in your own machine you can rent a Bernina for only $10 per class!

Software and Embroidery Club
Fee: $5
Have fun while learning more about embroidery and Software at it’s best. You will really enjoy our new ideas, projects and expanding your knowledge of your embroidery machine and Bernina embroidery software. This will be a "demo" class, but bring your laptop if you want to "take notes." There will be time, as always, for show and tell.

Closure with Closures Part 1 - Buttons
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Forget your fastener woes, Bernina style! Learn all the ins and outs about buttons and buttonholes.

Closure with Closures Part 2 - Zippers Galore
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Practice applying both regular and invisible zippers. Need a custom length zipper? We'll show you have to handle that too.

Embellishments
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Learn how to utilize some of those specialty presser feet with ribbons, yarns, cording and buttons to embellish your projects or garments - and it's fun! Instructions to turn your sample into a journal cover at home will be provided at class.

Pintuck-O-Rama
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Become a master of the pintuck with your Bernina and the right tools and feet.

Making Covered Cording
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Make single and double covered cording to add decorative detail to placemats, pillows and other home dec projects. This class is the first in a series of placemat classes that will include piping, circular fun, fringe, stitch recipes, and mini piping. Watch this page and the calendar for future classes.

Serging with Decorative Threads
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
The where, why and how to use decorative threads to enhance the wearability and appearance of your projects.

Pillow 6.0
Fee: Free if you purchased your Bernina at Bernina Northwest, $10 otherwise.
Learn how to use some of the new features in Bernina Embroidery V-6 Designer Plus Software. You will be designing a pillow that you can complete at home. Don't have V-6 Designer Plus? Come and try it out to see what you can create with great Bernina tools.

Learn Your Older Bernina
Class Fee: $50
Learn to care for and use your mechanical (models 1030 or older) or programmable (models 1080 or higher) Bernina sewing machine. Use presser feet, accessories, and stitches to their maximum potential.

Serger Basics
Class Fee: $50
This class is for beginners or those who need to get reacquainted with their machines: learn to thread your machine, achieve a balanced stitch and much more.

Learn to Sew
Class Fee: $150
Learn the basics of sewing and create your own style. This class will teach you to sew the fun and easy way. No more struggling through sewing projects wondering what you are doing wrong. Whether you want to redecorate your home or make crafts and clothes, Gloria will get you stitching in the right direction. Note: This is a 6-session class, not 6 separate classes.
